Taken the plunge
We've been pondering some alterations to our house for some time now, and after getting some plans drawn up, and resource/building consents obtained from Christchurch City Council, we're hoping to sign on the dotted line with a friendly builder this week and start construction around the end of June! Should take about 4 months and involves:
- Taking off the existing roof
- Building two more bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs
- Adding insulation to our existing bedroom upstairs
- Adding a new roof on top with two skylights
- Replacing three old windows downstairs with double-glazing
- Replacing the lounge bay-window with a large set of bi-fold doors out onto our existing deck
- Oh, and moving the stairs ;-)
Simple, really...

Store Wars - Join the Organic Revolution
This is a peach:
"Store Wars is a hilarious five minute mini-movie about a small band of organic vegetable puppets -- Cuke Skywalker, Ham Solo, Chewbroccoli and wise old Obi Wan Cannoli -- battling against Darth Tader, evil lord of the Dark Side of The Farm. Can these Organic Rebels rescue Princess Lettuce and destroy the Death Melon in time? Or will Cuke be seduced by the Dark Side of the Farm ... an empire of pollution and pesticides that has taken over the market with its arsenal of genetic engineering, irradiation and toxic chemicals? Turn on your speakers and find out at StoreWars.org"

For my birthday today...
One of the books I received is Under a Sheltering Sky by Colin Monteath, one of New Zealand's most respected adventurers/mountain photographers. So far it looks like being a fantastic trip through the world's wild places, with stunning photographs no surprise.
