Good progress & a spectacular sunset

We made some good progress on the gibbing front this weekend, with some very generous help from my friend & colleague David and his family, Rachel, Matthew & Elizabeth. Gibbed the ceilings in the kitchen, hall & downstairs bedroom. I also spent Saturday working on the Hogs Back track which is destined to link up Castle Hill Village with the Mt. Cheeseman road, before riding the whole unfinished track with Shane & Stephen from next door.  We also had a spectacular sunset on the nor'wester clouds over the Torlesse Range too.

Ranfurly Shield Defence at AMI Stadium

Took the kids along to an early evening NPC match at AMI Stadium. It was a Ranfurly Shield defence against Counties-Manukau (Counties fielding Tana Umaga - can't believe the guy's only a year younger than me!), Canterbury having wrested the Log Of Wood from Southland the week before.  It looked much warmer over the other side in the new Deans Stand.

“Mum & Dad make us sleep in the cupboard!”

We spent 4 days up at Castle Hill at the end of school holidays tidying up quite a few loose ends, and a lot of gib-fixing. Jamie & Mark came up for 2 days to help, along with Mark's two sons, who had a a great time exploring and being very tolerant of our 2 kids. We now mostly have a set of stairs, have plugged a lot of small gaps with insulation, and have a fair amount of gibbing done.  We also took a quick (cold) trip up to Devil's Punchbowl Falls at Arthur's Pass.
